Greetings,
The pioneering women of Pi Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., welcome you to our website. We are delighted that you are interested in what our chapter is doing in South Miami-Dade County.
We have a long history of service to communities in our area. It started in the mid-1980s, when a group of Alpha Kappa Alpha women looked upon the lush, tropical landscape of beautiful South Dade and realized it needed a touch of pink and green. In 1986, these insightful women chartered Pi Delta Omega Chapter.
Since then, the women of Pi Delta Omega have sponsored a wide range of educational, cultural and social programs for families, children and senior citizens. We donate to local charities. Our signature program - Little Miss Fashionetta - raises thousands of dollars each year that we give back to the community. We also award $10,000 in annual scholarships to deserving students pursing a college degree.
In 2007, our chapter is launching several new initiatives that are designed to increase the number of women entrepreneurs, teach children financial literacy, and help women deal with emotional and mental health issues.
We strive to provide meaningful programs that impact the lives of people who live in our community. Pi Delta Omega is committed to making South Miami-Dade County a better place to live, work and play.
Yours in Service,
Shawna Ferguson Cleveland President
